Spring where I live is such a joyous thing. After six months of dark, snow, and cold, we all come out of our hibernation to discover the world is alive again. You’ll see neighbors catching up while they garden, kids on bikes again, and people everywhere. It’s like we are solar powered and the sun finally shone upon us!

It also means we pack in every outdoor activity, family reunion, picnic, backyard get-together, and event into the few short months when it’s easy to be outside. My garden and outdoor house jobs all have to be cared for in a very short amount of time.

I’ve learned to move with the seasons instead of fighting them. It means my creative output will slow during these months because my attention needs to be elsewhere, but my early morning creative time remains the best part of every day. And tarot will be by my side through it all.

To no one’s surprise, a year with the Tower as my guide has been deeply transformative and rather surprising. April’s tower was my Tower to Vigilance. This was a doozy! I brought in some of my spiritual practices to help: my self-love pocket altar, my poppet, my rosaries, and a stone.

I’ve been wanting to make a Card of the Year altar for a long time, but didn’t know how to go about it. I had a moment of inspiration and found a tiny tarot deck and images to symbolize the elements. I added a vinyl pocket in the center so I can swap out the card each year.

I still have to sew everything down and embroider it, but I’m so happy with my progress so far!
